Who We Are
The armored car business, born in the crime-plagued years that followed War World I and tempered in the heat of Prohibition lawlessness, proved its importance during the difficult years of The Great Depression and subsequent wars, both hot and cold.
The Federal Armored Museum is designed to give visitors a better understanding of the armored car industry and the story of how the Dunbar family entered into this industry and grew to the fourth largest privately held well known armored car company, Dunbar Armored. To bring it all to life, the exhibits include George W. Dunbar’s original 1923 armored car and James L. Dunbar’s first truck used to establish Federal Armored Express in 1956.
The museum features a collection of unique memorabilia assembled and preserve by James L. Dunbar, founder of Federal Armored Express, to fulfill his long-standing vision of sharing the company’s security heritage in a well-designed display.
